

Marc Thibonnier, MD, MSc, FAHA (Chief Medical Officer) Dr. Thibonnier received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Paris, France and subsequently obtained a Master of Science degree in Pharmacology from the University of California, San Francisco where he completed his fellowship in Clinical Pharmacology. He has held faculty positions at both of his alma maters, as well as the Medical College of Ohio and Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio where he was a tenured Professor of Medicine and Pharmacology. He is currently on the Faculty at Stanford School of Medicine. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Endocrinology, and Nephrology in Europe, and in Internal Medicine and Clinical Pharmacology in the US.
Dr. Thibonnier is well known in the diabetes, hypertension, nephrology and endocrinology fields, and is considered a leading expert in the cardiovascular and metabolic aspects of drug development. He has received in excess of $21 million in funding over two decades from the AHA, VA and NIH in to conduct both basic and clinical academic research on various vasoactive hormones and their receptors, and was the original principal investigator of the Ohio-Michigan network of the NIH ACCORD trial in diabetic subjects. He has published 152 articles and reviews.
Before joining AGTII, Dr. Thibonnier was the Head of Cardiovascular, CNS, Metabolics and Urology for Bayer Health Care Pharmaceuticals in West Haven, CT, then Vice President Global Clinical Research, Metabolic Diseases at Bristol-Myers-Squibb in Princeton, NJ and recently Vice President, Metabolic Diseases, Clinical Pharmacology and Discovery Medicine at Glaxo-SmithKline in Research Triangle Park, NC.
He is the proud father of three children: Alexandre, Aurélia and Arnaud who have advanced degrees in Business, Engineering, and Medicine.

Dr. Roscoe O. Brady, MD, PhD (SAB Member): Dr. Brady received his M.D. degree from Harvard University Medical School. Following two and one-half years on active duty in the U.S. Naval Medical Corps, he joined the National Institutes of Health where he served as Chief of the Developmental and Metabolic Neurology Branch. He received the Gairdner International Award, the Cotzias Award from the American Academy of Neurology, the Pasano Foundation Award, the Lasker Foundation Clinical Medical Research Award, and the Kovalenko Medal from the National Academy of Sciences USA. He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences, USA and a member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences. Dr. Brady received his PhD (hon.) from Uppsala University in 2006 and the 2007 National Medal of Technology and Innovation from President George W. Bush.

Dr. Fred Nyberg, PhD (SAB Member): Dean of The Faculty of Pharmacy, Uppsala University, Professor in Biological Research on Drug Dependence, Swedish Medical Research Council at the Department Pharmaceutical Biosciences, Uppsala University. Dr. Nyberg has over 300 publications in internationally recognized industry and research journals, and his recent honors include the reward Sigillum of the Ateneo at University of Bologna in 2005, as well as appointments as Karl Johan Öbrink Lecturer at BMC in 2007, and Visiting Professor at Hoshi University, Tokyo (Japan) in 2009.

Dr. David Persing, MD, PhD (SAB Member): Director, Executive Vice President and Chief Medical and Technology Officer of Cepheid (NASDAQ: CPHD). From 1999 to July 2005, Dr. Persing was Senior Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer at Corixa Corporation, a Seattle-based biotechnology company, until their acquisition by GlaxoSmithkline. From 1990 to 1999 he was a member of the Clinical and Research Faculty of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota where he researched programs on hepatitis viruses and tick-borne infections. In 1992 he founded and directed the Molecular Microbiology Laboratory at Mayo Clinic. He has authored over 240 peer-reviewed articles and served as Editor in Chief for three textbooks on molecular diagnostics, the most recent of which was published by ASM press in December 2004.
